The principle of tithes and offerings predates the Law by 430 years, it is encouraged in the Old and New Testaments. In fact, there is no substitute system suggested in the New Testament. Throughout the Bible, God encourages us to test Him with all our time, skills, people, and possessions. Testimony of faithful believers throughout the centuries upholds the faithfulness of God in receiving and repaying tithes and offerings. One easy way to do that now is through the online giving platform of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In our tradition tithes do not directly benefit the local church but are passed along to the denomination which then decides how local churches are to be supported, and what ministries to be invested in. Many ministries are global in nature in healthcare, agriculture, education, church planting, and missionary salaries. This model has been in place for well over 100 years, and continues to support the mission of the church worldwide.
